When it comes to phones nowadays it’s really hard to find a good phone with a headphone jack, most of the flagship smartphones have moved away from wired headsets and are committed to Bluetooth technology. But then most of the good Bluetooth headphones are usually expensive, aren't they? This Razer Opus X Wireless Headset shows that it doesn’t have to be expensive to be good.

How cool does the Razer Opus X Wireless Headset look?

The headset comes in a simple, clean and well-packed box with the headset and its charging cable in its matching colour. It also comes with a short letter from Razer and two Razer stickers.

Materials & Construction

The headphone has a sleek design made of high-quality plastic and feels sturdy in hand and also while using. The ear cups have foam inside and the cushions are made of Pleather which helps with its noise cancellation and long time use.

The headsets are not foldable but the ear cups do fold 90 degrees for ease of storage.

Since it’s an everyday use style headset, Razer offers three different colour options to choose from Quartz (Pink), Mercury (White), and Razer’s signature (Green).

Buttons and controls

Easy to use buttons and controls on the Razer Opus X Wireless Headset

The body of the headset has a few buttons and controls for quick settings under the right earpiece. It has a volume control button, play pause button and a power button that doubles as the mode selector.

Note: the power button can switch between 3 modes only. To turn on the low latency gaming mode, the Razer Audio app is required.

Quality

Try it to believe it!

This is where the headset shines the most, the audio quality is really great with good bass and mids. The quality does not change when you switch modes which is a pleasant surprise. The headset offers four modes for listening ANC (active noise cancellation) off, ANC-ON, ambient mode and the gaming mode.

When the ANC is on it works like high-end noise-cancelling headphones and makes for an immersive audio experience and with the ambient mode, it lets in a certain amount of audio for increased situational awareness.

The gaming mode is a special mode that has to be turned on using the Razer Audio app which allows you to use your headsets in a low latency environment. It reduces the latency to 60ms which is good for most fast-paced action games.

It also has an inbuilt microphone which is a good quality microphone for a Bluetooth headset and it’s good enough for most phone calls and voice chats.

Connectivity

This is a Bluetooth headset and it requires your device to have active Bluetooth connectivity for you to pair the headset. Since it uses Bluetooth 5.0 the connection is strong and does not have any range problems. It is very easy to connect to your device.

You can simply use your Bluetooth setting to connect or use the Razer Audio App. The app provides some information about the headset including the battery percentage and the previously mentioned gaming mode option. The app also houses some more important settings like language and auto switch-off timer.

The headset uses a USB type C cable for charging and has 40 hours of battery life with ANC off and up to 30 hours with ANC on, which is really rare to be seen in headsets of this price range.

Weight

Razer Opus X Wireless Headset: A tech enthusiast's review

It is comfortably lighter than most of the overhead headsets with its beautiful high-quality plastic body. As it weighs around just 265 grams, it is definitely comfortable for a long period of continuous usage.
