Fortnite is one of the most popular games in the world and has changed the battle royale gaming scene since its release. In Qatar, Fortnite holds a large player base, with regular tournaments being held.

On this edition of ILQ Level Up, we caught up with popular Fortnite content creator and tournament organizer Saleh Alawi to learn more about the game and its competitive scene in Qatar.

ILQ: Can you tell us about yourself and what you do?

Saleh: My name is Saleh, also known as NobQtr online. I am 31 years old, a content creator, and a Fortnite tournament organizer.

ILQ: When did you start playing games, and what do you love about it?

Saleh: I have played video games for as long as I can remember. I have loved them since I was a child. It is a positive pastime that lets you release all your negative energy.

ILQ: Can you tell us about Fortnite?

Saleh: Fortnite is a battle royale fighting game of a different kind that is really fun. I started playing in 2018 with friends shortly after it was launched.

I love Fortnite because it has a very high level of competition, and its tournaments are very enjoyable. It's different from other games because of the construction aspect, the great development of the game, and the game’s support for content creators and professional players.

ILQ: What advice would you give those wanting to improve at Fortnite?

Saleh: My advice would be to learn every new move in the game, play continuously, and focus on the opponent’s gameplay and style to know his weak point and take advantage of it.

ILQ: How did you start streaming and creating content online?

Saleh: In 2019, I would spend a lot of time playing games. This made me realize, why don’t I transform this pastime into doing something more with it? From there, I decided to become a content creator, focusing on the games I play.

ILQ: What would you advise those who want to start creating content?

Saleh: Start with setting a goal and be persistent to achieve success. Keep going, and don’t give up!

ILQ: Can you tell us more about Qatar's gaming and e-sports community?

Saleh: There is a huge e-sports community here in Qatar. This community has had many achievements and great institutions to elevate it even further, including the Qatar E-Sports Federation, Team Mana, Quest, Ooredoo Nation, etc.

I hope to see them collaborate more in the future to push Qatari e-sports to the forefront.

ILQ: What would you advise those who want to participate in e-sports competitively?

Saleh: Focus well on being a professional player! Believe me when I say that is the key to success.

ILQ: What gaming-related events would you like to see more in Qatar?

Saleh: My dream is to see Qatar host the Fortnite Global Championship Finals.

ILQ: What are the challenges of organizing tournaments?

Saleh: The biggest challenge in my experience is finding a venue and an official sponsor to support the event.

ILQ: Do you have any future events or tournaments you're organizing?

Saleh: I will be organizing amazing LAN tournaments with Team Mana! Stay tuned.
