The Corsair K65 RGB Rapidfire Mechanical Keyboard

If you're into any kind of tech you’d probably have heard of Corsair. They are a big brand in PC tech and they always bring big innovation to the game and it's seen in this keyboard as well. From design to its mechanics the keyboard is a definite winner.

The keyboard comes with a detachable wrist rest, textured keycaps for MOBA/FPS and keycap remove tool for you to customize your keyboard to your style.

Quality

The quality of the keyboard is important because unlike headphones or mic, you'll be constantly using the keyboard. If the quality of the keys are bad you will notice it easily and the entire experience will be lost. Fortunately with Corsair K65 RGB Rapidfire Mechanical Keyboard that is not the case as the keys are super fast and clicky that you'll feel like your typing skill has improved.

And if you're using this keyboard for gaming then you can feel the difference in the response time of the keys, as they have used innovative technology to make the keyboard work faster.

Connectivity

This is a wired keyboard and it has a non-removable cable with 2 USB connectors. There is no other way to connect the keyboard to your PC, the keyboard uses the “iCue” software in which you can set up your RGB and hotkeys. The keyboard also comes with a lock button which can be customized using the app as well.

The device also has a USB Pass-Through Port which allows you to connect any USB device directly to the keyboard.

Bonus: if you use any iCue software supported devices their RGB can be synced across all the devices to have a more clean desktop setup.

Materials & Construction

The body is made of mostly metal and hard plastic which feels sturdy and durable. The keyboard’s brushed aluminum frame provides a premium look that will fit perfectly on any setup and the keys make it feel like they are built to withstand a lifetime of gaming and typing for sure!

Special appreciation to the included wrist rest which is covered with a rubberized material to give your hands good grip while using your keyboard, it is incredibly helpful for long usage.

Observations

This keyboard has an amazing feature that is not common in many keyboards. It features an MX cherry mechanical key switch; what does that mean?

It means that the keys travel very less distance to get actuated. An average mechanical keyboard travels about 2mm but here it's reduced to 1.2mm. That might not sound impressive but frankly, I'm loving the speed of this keyboard and I can say the key switch speed is definitely impressive.

But I also want to mention that this keyboard's TKL (Tenkeyless) is definitely not for everyone especially if you're used to having a full keyboard then the compactness of this keyboard might put you off.

Technical details

  • CHERRY® MX SPEED
  • FULL KEY ROLLOVER WITH 100% ANTI-GHOSTING
  • USB PASS THROUGH
  • 1.2mm ACTUATION WITH 45G SWITCH FORCE

Pros

  • Minimalistic design
  • Aluminium build
  • Includes a wrist rest in the box
  • Dedicated volume controls
  • Profile switcher in the keyboard

Cons

  • It's not a full-size keyboard. (Numopad is not available)
  • This keyboard can get a bit loud so it is not recommended for use in quiet places.

Final thoughts

This is a very nice and durable keyboard and for the price, you pay you’ll certainly not be disappointed. Its fast mechanical keys are for sure one of the best I've ever used. This keyboard is an overall champ and with its replaceable keycaps, you have a chance of using this keyboard for years to come. When you think about that the price of this product is justified. If you are looking to buy a keyboard then this is the one to consider.
