Three Likhwiya (police) died on monday

Three members of the State Security Force (Likhwiya) died due to explosion of inflammable substances at the premises of the force here on Monday.

Arab daily reported that the trio was trying to dispose of the expired combustible materials when they suddenly exploded, leading to the death of two of them on the spot. The third person succumbed to his injuries later in the night.

Prince William’s visit to meet troops in Afghanistan this weekend drew a mixed response yesterday, with some condemning it as a public relations exercise and others praising the future king. Ladies Only floor at Ramada Plaza Hotel

In response to customer demand and to cater for the growing number of businesswomen travelling alone in the Gulf and to the rapidly growing hub of Doha, a total of 17 guest rooms have been transformed to make the female traveller “feel more comfortable and at home”.

A Landmark disappears

The Oasis Hotel, Qatar’s first star hotel and one of the prominent landmarks in Doha, is being demolished. The nearly five-decade-old hotel located off the Corniche and near the Doha International Airport is giving way to the new development plans.

Doha to host panel to fight terror and crime

The Second Regional Conference on Justice, which started here yesterday, has proposed the setting up of a mechanism to be based in Doha to increase inter-Arab cooperation in fighting oranised crimes and terrorist activities. The conference was jointly organised by Qatar’s Public Prosecution and the French Ministry of Justice.
