Géant Hypermarket was inaugurated at Hyatt Plaza yesterday as part of Al Meera Holding Co’s efforts to give its customers a comprehensive shopping experience. Inaugurating the newly restructured hypermarket, Dr Saif al-Suwaidi, vice chairman, board of Al Meera Consumer Goods Co, said the store was completely upgraded in terms of diversity and quality of items on display, equipment, decorations and all other arrangements to give customer a more convenient shopping experience. He said that Al Meera Co had adopted a policy to diversify its goods and services to include more items and open more department stores at various locations in Qatar. “Though the main focus of the company is food items retailing, there are plans to introduce more items such as clothing, electronics, home appliances, accessories among other consumer goods.” He said that Nuaija branch in Al-Hilal area is expected to open within a couple of months and it would constitute a distinguished addition to its existing branches. He pointed out that the company has plans to broaden its chain of stores outside Qatar and it is constantly monitoring potential markets to launch new branches in other countries as the company profits have been constantly climbing. The inauguration ceremony was attended by board members and dignitaries. The launch of Géant Hypermarket is result of an agreement signed between Al Meera Holding Co and French retailer Casino to develop a network of hypermarkets and supermarkets under the Géant banners in select Middle East countries. “The opening of Géant Hypermarket is in line with our commitment to all our stakeholders, including both our shareholders and our customers. We believe that Geant will provide a host of benefits to all,” added Dr al-Suwaidi. Géant Hypermarket offers an elite and interesting shopping experience with its distinctive decorations, ample space and display styles that host a variety of quality goods ranging from select food items, to garments, electronic and kitchenware, in one place. The hypermarket said it would ensure compliance with the highest global standards in terms of quality of products and services through engaging the most reliable suppliers and sources in the field. Géant is already a leading retailer with more than 10 stores in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain. Gulf Times
