Qatar lost Thursday 0-2 in a friendly to Brazil as part of the two sides' preparations for the Copa America. The match took place at Estadio Nacional De Brasilia.

Richarlison and Gabriel Jesus scored the two goals in the 16th and 24th minute. PSG's superstar Neymar was injured in the match.

Qatar had a chance to pull a goal back in the 96th minute after the referee penalized Ederson for a mistimed challenge following a VAR review, however, Boualem Khoukhi's spot-kick cannoned against the crossbar.

The match was eventful in the first half. This was not just due to the two goals scored, but also due to Neymar's injury that took place in the 21st minute and a penalty that was overturned after a VAR review.

Qatar had won seven successive matches heading into the friendly but the Copa America guests were completely outplayed as Brazil hit the front in the 16th minute. Dani Alves picked out Richarlison, who rose highest to head past Saad Al Sheeb for his fourth international goal. It was five minutes later that Neymar got injured and eventually replaced.

That did not hamper Brazil, who doubled their lead eight minutes later through Jesus following some neat combination play with Richarlison. Philippe Coutinho thought he had the chance to make it 3-0 after a handball inside the box six minutes before half-time, however, the referee overturned his original decision following a VAR review.

The second half saw the introduction of Lucas Paqueta and Champions League semi-finalist David Neres. The second half changes however did affect proceedings and the match first to live up to the action seen in the first half.

Qatar will face Paraguay on June 16 in their first match of Copa America.
