[UPDATE] Philippine Embassy in Qatar to resume services starting August 16

UPDATE AUGUST 13, 2020

After a recent announcement regarding its temporary closure starting August 12, the Philippine Embassy in Qatar has announced that it will resume its services again starting August 16, 2020.

According to Embassy Advisory no. ALT-47-2020, the concerned Embassy staff was confirmed negative for COVID-19 on August 12 by Qatari health authorities after the staff's swab testing conducted on August 11. The Embassy premises will be disinfected starting August 13 to ensure the health and safety of its personnel and the transacting public.

"Those whose appointments were affected by the temporary closure will be accommodated and given priority when the Embassy reopens."

The Philippine Embassy also cleared up an issue on the exemption of the use of Ehteraz application by Embassy personnel and its dependents, which was the subject of censure by some members of the Filipino community.

The Philippine Embassy in Doha, Qatar, has announced yesterday (August 11) the temporary closure of the Embassy starting today August 12 until further notice.

The Embassy Advisory No. ALT-46-2020 dated August 11 states that:

The Embassy informs the Filipino community in Qtar and the general public that a family member of one of its personnel has tested positive for COVID-19.
In the interest of the safety of the general public, the Philippine Embassy stopped its services earlier today and will be temporarily closed starting tomorrow, 12 August 2020, until further notice.
Despite the closure, the Embassy will remain accessible through the following means in case of queries and concerns:
  • Hotline numbers:
    • 5527 5123 (for consular concerns, such as passport, civil registry, marriage, authentication, etc)
    • 6644 6303 (for police cases and other concerns)
    The Embassy will inform the community and the general public of further developments once available.
