According to a report by The Peninsula, an official from UAE’s Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Authority Khalid Jasim Al Midfa announced at the Arabian Travel Market on 7 May 2024 that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Grand Tours Visa will be available by the end of the year.

As per the report, the GCC Grand Tours visa is valid for over 30 days and allows travel through the six GCC countries: Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman.

“By the end of this year, the whole system will be in place. (We) are working day and night and e-service is a vital part of it. We don’t want to complicate things for people and also maintain the same security level. It will be a very good initiative and we will see a positive outcome for regional economies.”

Gulf citizens can travel visa-free throughout the GCC countries. However, the GCC Grand Tours visa will also allow residents to travel freely between the countries with the aim of boosting tourism and the economy.

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy of the UAE, was also quoted in the UAE media mentioning: “this will make travel to our region more convenient and affordable for tourists.”
