According to a report by Bloomberg, the United Arab Emirates is weighing plans to simplify the visa system for neighboring Gulf countries, including Qatar.
Citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries may travel across borders visa-free. Foreign residents, however, often still need visas to cross GCC borders.
As per Bloomberg, a new visa system being proposed would allow foreign residents of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia to travel freely within countries that make up the bloc, says UAE Economy Minister Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri at a conference in Abu Dhabi on 26 September 2023. He further shares that this will be proposed "very soon".
