Traffic accidents on the decline
Doha • More than 210,000 road accidents took place in the country last year, claiming 199 lives. Most of these accidents were, however, minor. The death toll in traffic mishaps in 2006 was 270, with more than 156,000 accidents taking place. In 2005, 206 people perished while the number of accidents totalled 93,000.

Three Likhwiya (police) died on monday
Please let us pay our respects to the police who have died on duty. Three members of the State Security Force (Likhwiya) died due to explosion of inflammable substances at the premises of the force here on Monday. Arab daily reported that the trio was trying to dispose of the expired combustible materials when they suddenly exploded, leading to the death of two of them on the spot. Ladies Only floor at Ramada Plaza Hotel
Doha's landmark Ramada Plaza has introduced a ‘Ladies Only’ floor, a first for Qatar. In response to customer demand and to cater for the growing number of businesswomen travelling alone in the Gulf and to the rapidly growing hub of Doha, a total of 17 guest rooms have been transformed to make the female traveller “feel more comfortable and at home”.
