On 23 January 2023, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) signed a cooperation agreement with the Qatar ESports Federation at the federation’s headquarters in Al Bidda Tower, intending to invest in expertise and capabilities and support joint activities and goals with great ambitions reinforced by the cooperation agreement concluded between the two federations.

The agreement was signed by Mr. Mansour Al Ansari - Secretary General of the Qatar Football Association, and Mr. Faisal Khaled - Secretary General of the Qatar ESports Federation.

Cooperation agreement enhances ambitious partnership

On this occasion, Mansour Al Ansari, Secretary General of the Qatar Football Association, appreciated the great role assigned to the Qatar ESports Federation and its goals aimed at expanding the base of participation in its various games and activities that receive great interest from Qatari youth within its message and vision, which is consistent with our vision and mission.

The Secretary-General of the Qatar Football Association confirmed by saying: “This agreement matches the Federation’s aspirations to continue its achievements and presence on the global map in electronic games, and it is a worthy step, as it will be a major supporter of all the participations of our national electronic football team, which has a long record of various participations after... He previously qualified for the finals of the Nations Cup in Denmark for the Middle East and Africa, and also participated in the West Asian Championships, achieving outstanding results in a short period. He is also awaiting a new participation - for the first time - in the AFC Asian Cup™, in conjunction with the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™. During the period from 1 to 5 next February.”

The Asian Football Confederation’s e-Cup represents the federation’s first appearance in the world of e-sports through its support of the Qatar e-football team, which reinforces its desire to engage more with a new generation of football fans, with the participation of 20 member associations of the Asian Football Confederation.

For his part, Faisal Khaled, Secretary General of the Qatar Electronic Sports Federation, said: “The signing of the cooperation agreement with the Qatar Football Association coincides with the launch of the Qatar Electronic Sports Federation, and it is a wonderful opportunity through which we look forward to achieving our ambitious common goals and benefiting from the great experiences and achievements of the federation.” Qatar Football Association, and moving forward to support the Qatari electronic football team’s participation in all forums.”

The Secretary General of the Qatar ESports Federation explained by saying: “We seek to build strong partnerships with various relevant local entities, and among the lists of partnerships that we look forward to and that always receive attention and have implications of additional value, is the partnership with the Football Association, as this agreement - which We are announcing it today – it provides us with the perfect example of what cooperation agreements should be and that reinforces our mission to advance all e-sports activities.”
