Medical treatment fees hmc phcc official gazette doha 2023

As per a report by The Peninsula, on 3 October 2023, the Official Gazette of the State of Qatar published on 3 October 2023, the fees and charges for medical treatment services at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC).

The Official Gazette published the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Resolution No. 28 of 2023 are for deciding fees and charges for medical treatment services within the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC).

While the Official Gazette published the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Resolution No. 29 of 2023 are for deciding the fees and charges for medical treatment services at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).

As per the report by The Peninsula, as stated in Article 3 of the resolution, the decision will be implemented by the relevant authorities, and will come into effect the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.

The report also mentioned that the fees and charges for medical treatment services in PHCC and HMC will be effective from 4 October 2023.

Example fees and charges at PHCC:

  • Screening test for visual acuity: QR 45
  • Surgical removal of cyst: QR 1,500
  • Root canal obturation (1 canal): QR 518
  • Electrocardiogram, routine ECG: QR 207
  • Pharmacy items: 20% of the cost

Prices for treatment and services are determined and verified upon hospital, clinic visit or admission.

Example fees and charges at HMC:

  • Glaucoma and Complex Cataract Procedures: QR 9,037
  • Sleep Apnoea - QR 68,916 (Normal Stay), Long stay (over 6 days - QR 86,500)
  • Bronchitis and Asthma w/ CC: QR 15,279 (Normal Stay), Long stay (over 6 days - QR 48,853)
  • Complex Gastroscopy w/o catastrophic CC: QR 16, 350 (Normal Stay)
  • Seizure w/ catastrophic or severe CC: QR 44, 990.50 (Short Stay)

Prices for treatment and services are determined and verified upon hospital, clinic visit or admission.

The Ministry of Public Health announced on 4 October 2023 the circumstances in which these fees will be implemented to provide further clarity:

  • As per the ministry, the fees will only apply to visitors to Qatar in the current phase.
  • Based on existing laws and decisions, Qatari nationals and other exempted groups from the government health care facilities will continue to receive services free of charge.
  • The new fees will also not apply to residents in the current phase.
