Qatar continues to reunite children with their families from Russia and Ukraine conflict

The State of Qatar announced the success of its continued mediation efforts to reunite children, with their families, as part of its ongoing efforts to reunite families separated by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

In a statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), H.E. Lolwah bint Rashid Al-Khater, Minister of State for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the efforts of the State of Qatar included reuniting Ukrainian children with their families in Ukraine, in addition to reuniting Russian children with their families in Russia.

Her Excellency explained that the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Moscow is hosting the children and facilitating their safe travel to Ukraine, while representatives of the State of Qatar are facilitating the safe transfer of the children from Ukraine to Russia via Belarus.

Her Excellency reiterated the commitment of the State of Qatar to its mediation efforts aimed at reuniting children separated from their families and ensuring their safety and well-being, noting that the mediation of the State of Qatar includes obtaining familial consent for the children's transfer, verifying their identities, coordinating with humanitarian organizations, addressing their medical needs, as well as logistical arrangements for reuniting the children with their families. Her Excellency Minister of State for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar's appreciation to both Ukraine and the Russian Federation for their cooperation and commitment to ensuring the safety and security of these children and providing them with appropriate care.

Her Excellency expressed the State of Qatar's thanks and appreciation to H.E. Maria Lvova-Belova, Children's Rights Commissioner for the President of the Russian Federation, and H.E. Dimitri Lubinets, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, for their considerable efforts during the mediation, which is integral to the successful reunifications of the separated families.
