The State of Qatar announced that its mediation efforts have led to the successful release of an Austrian detainee in Afghanistan and has confirmed his arrival in Doha prior to his final destination.

H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar, expressed in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the State of Qatar's gratitude and appreciation to the Afghanistan government for their cooperation in the release of the Austrian national.

He also shares that the State of Qatar appreciates the strong bilateral relations with the Republic of Austria, and is delighted with the release of the national.

The State Minister affirmed that Qatar will continue to contribute its mediation efforts in the settlement of conflicts through constructive dialogue and peaceful methods to promote peace and stability in the region and the world.
