The Ministry of Municipality and Environment announced its preparations for Eid Al Adha, by providing abattoirs and making sure they are ready and providing Udhiyahs of various kinds, as well as organizing public beaches to receive the public with the determination of swimming places and temporary camping times.
During two press conferences held today to discuss these preparations, the ministry and other related authorities reviewed the general hygiene plan in parks, corniche and beaches, and precautionary and preventive measures to preserve the security and safety of the public.
In this regard, the Assistant Undersecretary for public services at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment Eng. Ahmed Mohammed Al Sada said that the ministry has prepared well for the occasion by increasing the number of workers, cars and hygiene containers on public beaches. He indicated that the ministry will implement campaigns to raise the awareness of the public.
For his part, Assistant Undersecretary for Environmental Affairs Eng. Hassan Jumaa Al Muhannadi, talked about organizing beaches to preserve the safety of visitors, pointing out that the ministry held several meetings with the relevant authorities to organize work and deal with any emergency during this period.
He explained that environmental inspectors were distributed on the beaches and at sea to control violations and direct the public to swimming places and determine the requirements for horse riding. In addition to providing security points at the entrances and exits of the beaches to ensure the application of precautionary measures such as (EHTERAZ application, social distancing and wearing of masks) in cooperation with the Lekhwiya Force, as well as providing ambulances in areas of density in coordination with Hamad Medical Corporation.
Director of the Natural Reserves Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment Saleh Hasan Al Kuwari, said that arrangements were made with the Coast Guard and the border to provide a number of cruisers, and scooters to undertake rescue and observation operations for beachgoers and places designated for swimming, especially in the Maroona and Al Ghariya beaches.
Al Kuwari warned that the beaches should be preserved and clean because they belong to everyone, pointing out that the ministry will carry out awareness campaigns and distribute garbage bags to beachgoers to preserve the environment and gathering places.
During the conference related to the preparations of the abattoirs for the blessed Eid Al Adha, Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs, Mansour Abdullah al Mahmoud at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment confirmed that the ministry is ready for this important religious and social event long before to facilitate the public and maintain their safety, especially in light of the good results achieved by the state in overcoming Corona pandemic (COVID-19).
He added that the meeting was held with the relevant authorities to ensure the safety of the Udhiyahs and precautionary abattoirs procedures, by intensifying field visits to them and ensuring their readiness and checking their employees on an ongoing basis. Likewise, the number of health inspectors and sterilization rounds inside and outside abattoirs is constantly increasing, immediate disposal of slaughter waste and organizing sales operations. He explained that work will be done in the abattoirs during the whole week from five in the morning until five in the evening, under the supervision of specialized veterinarians and complete concern for the safety of the Udhiyahs received to the public. With confirmation of the extent of commitment of workers to these abattoirs in terms of the presence of health and personal hygiene certificates, in order to receive the Udhiyahs of the public and veterinary examination of them throughout the days of Eid Al Adha.
In the same context CEO of Widam, AlNoubay Salem Al Marri, stressed the company's role in providing Udhiyahs to meet local demand, pointing to several initiatives undertaken by the company in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment to support the Udhiyahs of citizens.
He stressed that the company takes all precautions during the sales and slaughtering operations, where the customer can choose the Udhiyah and buy it and receive it after the slaughter while he is inside his car. This system was applied during the last month of Ramadan, and proved successful and will be applied during the blessed Eid Al Adha in order to preserve the safety of the Udhiyahs and to prevent overcrowding inside the abattoirs, he pointed out.
The CEO of Widam said it was important to avoid informal means when it came to preparing Udhiyah, as part of the efforts to keep Coronavirus spread under control. He noted that there was a phone app that would deliver Udhiyahs to homes to keep everyone safe.
