A delegation from the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has inspected the progress of work on the District Cooling Plant Project for Al Bayt Stadium, which is located in Al Khor.

During its periodic inspection tour, the delegation of KAHRAMAA was briefed on the stages of implementation of the plant, which will start its trial operation soon, according to the plan prepared for that.

Al Bayt Stadium, one of the 2022 World Cup stadiums, uses district cooling system through a central station with a cooling capacity of 30,000 tons, The plant distributes the chilled water to a number of heat exchangers, which in turn supplies them to air handling units distributed in the stadium to ensure the required temperature at the fan zones and the stadium floor.

It is one of the most efficient environmentally friendly and energy-saving systems, as it saves about 40 percent of electricity consumption and 98 percent of potable water consumption compared to traditional cooling solutions that support the sustainability of water resources.

KAHRAMAA works to enhance water security in the country by shifting to the use of treated wastewater instead of using potable water in all district cooling plants, which is considered the best sustainable system in the region.
