Aisha AlMaadeed is a young Qatari on a mission. She is the founder of Greener Future, a youth initiative aimed at promoting the importance of the environment and its protection through projects that promote innovation and sustainability. She can be often seen working with different organizations, raising awareness about how to reduce the use of plastic and teaching the youth on what environmentally friendly materials can be used as an alternative.

ILQ got in touch with Aisha and this is what we found out about this young inspirational woman and the Qatari youth initiative, Greener Future:

ILQ: Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do.

Aisha: I’m a Qatari citizen and the environment has become our mother nature who raised us to be a part of its cycle. It gave me the courage to inspire young people to be able to adapt to environmental behaviors which helps to have a healthy lifestyle.

ILQ: Tell us about your journey with Greener Future?

Aisha: At the first stage, I participated in a leadership initiative program and our main idea was to develop an initiative by youth which can encourage the community to change a life habit but we volunteered to empower our society to increase their knowledge in the Eco lifestyle. Then, we decided as a group to spread environmental awareness by doing workshops in schools and participate in conferences to let people know about recycling and Eco lifestyle but I discovered that it taught me also how to be confident and a decision-maker.

ILQ: Why do you love what you do?

Aisha: Because saving the environment tough me how to appreciate and it showed me how simple action can make a difference in people's life.

ILQ: What is your biggest achievement so far in terms of your initiatives?

Aisha: There is nothing big as there is continuity in doing what we like which is developing new sustainable ideas on how to make the environment safe and reducing material waste by using natural alternatives.

ILQ: What's next for you?

Aisha: Develop a platform that engages people to share their ideas on how to reduce waste usage and increase awareness by using art with sustainability in their daily activities.

ILQ: Do you have any message for the people of Qatar?

Aisha: The environment is part of our life cycle, and it is our priority to protect it. In addition, innovation can be build up by recycling materials and reuse waste can be used as a support tool for creativity in different fields.
