Qatar defeated Jamaica 2-1 friendly on Thursday, as part of the two sides' preparations for the Gold Cup 2023 slated to be held in the US and Canada from June 24 to July 16.
Two goals from Hammam Al Amin and Mohammed Muntari in Minutes 31 and 40 respectively gave Qatar their first-ever win under Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz. On June 8, they lost 0-1 to Croatia.
Qatar's third match in the camp will be against New Zealand on June 19, a day before flying for the US to mark their second featuring in the Concacaf Gold Cup.
Qatar were drawn in Group B along with Mexico, Haiti and Honduras. Their opener will be against Haiti on June 25, before taking on Honduras on June 29 and Mexico on July 2.
The 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup is the 17th edition of the biennial international men's football championship of the North, Central American and Caribbean region organized by Concacaf. Canada and the United States will host the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from June 24 to July 16, 2023.
Qatar is returning to the Concacaf Gold Cup as a guest team and will play its second consecutive Gold Cup. Last edition, the AFC squad put together a run all the way to the semifinals under manager Felix Sánchez.
