Featuring all first and second division in Qatar; the Amir Cup is the biggest football cup competition in the country. The 2020 Amir Cup will see a total of 16 teams. The teams have been split into two groups of eight. Doha giants Al Sadd will take on Al Kharaitiyat in their opening clash of the Amir Cup, Qatar’s most popular football tournament.

Al Sadd, who has won the Amir Cup a staggering 16 times, will remain to the team to beat in this year’s event now into its 48th edition.

In other matches, Al Sailiya will take on Umm Salal, Al Duhail will battle Muaither, Al Shahaniya tackled Al Wakra, Al Ahli will face Qatar SC, Al Rayyan plays Mesaimeer while Al Arabi has a date with Al Khor and Al Gharafa with Al Markhiya.

Competition rounds

First Round

The competition commences with a match pairing the fourth and fifth-placed teams Al Shamal and Mesaimeer in the Second Division.

Second Round

The top three teams of the Second Division in addition to the winner of the Mesaimeer-Al Shamal clash will vie against clubs that finished from ninth to twelfth (9-12) in the QNB Stars League.

Third Round
Qualifying teams from the second round are drawn to play against the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth-placed teams of the QNB Stars League. Winners of the matches will proceed to the fourth round of the tournament.

Fourth Round (quarter-final)
The top four teams of the QNB Stars League are drawn to play against the four qualifying teams from the third round.

Fifth Round (Semi-final)
The winning teams of the fourth round will play against each other

Final Match
The winners of the fifth round match will play against each other.
