Qatar athletes Mutaz Barshim and Bassem Hemeida, competing at the World Athletics Championship 2023, have moved on to the next rounds of their respective fields inching closer to a chance at the championship titles.
Both athletes competed in qualifying matches today, 20 August 2023, held in Budapest, Hungary.

Mutaz Barshim, Qatari Olympic Champion, qualified for the final of the high jump competition after he jumped to a height of 2.28 m in the world championship.
The final match will be held on Tuesday, 22 August 2023.

Bassem Hemeida qualified for the semi-finals of the 400m hurdles race, achieving a 49.50 mark in the race.
The semi-finals will be held tomorrow, 21 August 2023.
