Banks in Qatar will be closed for three days for Eid Al-Fitr holidays starting on the first day of Eid, according to a statement issued by Qatar Central Bank (QCB). Al Jazeera shows Israeli soccer team
The Al Jazeera satellite channel on Tuesday broke a long established taboo by broadcasting a football match featuring an Israeli team on Arab television for the first time. The UEFA Champions League match between Israeli champions Maccabi Haifa and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich was aired on the Qatari channel and commentary was in English. Beaches get a facelift
The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning has beautified and revamped a number of beaches in Qatar ahead of the Eid holidays. An official at the ministry told Qatar News Agency that sun-shade umbrellas had been installed at the beaches as part of beautification drive. Also, the ministry has undertaken a beautification drive on some of the islands which are frequented by people during weekends and holidays.
