The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) announced today, 4 April 2023, that it was following, in cooperation with regional and international bodies, the latest developments about the Marburg virus following its spread in Equatorial Guinea and Tanzania.
In a statement, the Ministry recommended that citizens and residents avoid unnecessary travel temporarily to the two countries where the disease has spread and calls upon those present there to follow the preventive measures issued by the local health authorities.
It also called on those coming from Equatorial Guinea and Tanzania to monitor disease symptoms in the first 21 days after arrival. The symptoms include fever accompanied by symptoms such as headache, severe malaise with muscle pain, diarrhoea, vomiting, and skin rash. The ministry advised self-isolation if any of those symptoms appear and calling the unified call centre for the health care sector in the State of Qatar (16000).
