Chef Vu Van Dang, the visiting chef from Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi’s Hoi An restaurant, will showcase Vietnamese cuisine at Sridan Restaurant. Chef Dang uses fresh, traditional ingredients to bring the flavours of Vietnam to life while applying a liberal dose of imagination to culinary techniques and presentation.

Traditional Vietnamese cuisine is marked by delicate spicy and fresh flavours, incorporating five essential elements. Each Vietnamese dish has a distinctive flavour which reflects one or more of these elements.

Thus, the cuisine is celebrated for its fresh ingredients, minimal use of oil and reliance on herbs and vegetables with a perfect balance between herbs, meats and a selective use of spices to reach a fine taste. Vietnamese food is also considered one of the healthiest cuisines worldwide.

The Vietnamese Culture and Cuisine Festival will run from 30 October to 12 November 2016 for both lunch and dinner, and will feature iconic dishes, such as Hanoi Crispy Seafood Rolls, Steamed Sea Bass in Banana Leaf and Indochina Devilled Crab Cake. Of course, the experience would not be complete without having a bowl of traditional national favourite, Phở, for which diners can choose between beef or chicken broth infused with fresh coriander, lemon and chilli.

Lunch buffet is priced at QAR109 per person every day, excluding Friday, between noon and 3p.m. and dinner buffet is at QAR139 per person daily from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. For more details, please contact 4429 5295 or email [email protected]

In partnership with Emirates Airlines, Shangri-La Hotel Doha will run a social media contest with people attending the Vietnamese Culture and Cuisine Festival and will be giving away two business class return tickets and a weekend stay at Shangri-La Hotel Dubai, as well as an Economy class ticket to Hanoi, Vietnam.
