Qatar Museums has partnered with Inter and Qatar Airways, the Official Global Airline Partner of FC Internazionale Milano, to endorse Design Doha and promote cultural exchange.

On 4 February 2024, the communities of Milan and Doha united at the San Siro stadium to mark the Inter versus Juventus match, a pinnacle event in Italy's sporting calendar.

The excitement kicked off with a pre-game reception that brought together the Qatari delegation, emphasizing the shared ethos of design and football, a value shared by both Milan and Doha. The reception, which welcomed a host of VIP guests, media, designers, and artists, featured an introduction to Design Doha presented by Ghada Al Khater, consultant to Design Doha, and Dr. Jelena Trkulja, the Senior Advisor for Academic and Cultural Affairs at Qatar Museums.

Attendees of the match were then treated to a captivating laser show which introduced Design Doha to a stadium of over 75,000 spectators.

In what was an impressive victory for Inter, the match showcased not only a game of football but also emphasized the close link between sport and design and the potential of collaboration, underscoring Qatar Museums' mission to unite people through the transformative power of culture.

Design Doha, spearheaded by Qatar Museums’ Chairperson, Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, will serve as a platform for practitioners from across the Arab world, helping to build professional pathways, and engage with acclaimed design professionals from around the world who will convene at the event.

More than 100 designers from the MENA region will participate in the inaugural Design Doha which begins with a week of special events from 24-28 February 2024, with programming running through 5 August 2024.

The partnership was organized by Qatar Creates, the year-round cultural movement that curates, celebrates, and promotes cultural activities within Qatar.
