Mowasalat (Karwa) announced on Monday, 28 March 2022, that Qatar's first fully-electric public bus route is now open. According to Mowasalat, all public buses plying the route between Al Ghanim Bus Station and City Center will be electric.

The development complements the Ministry of Transports's efforts to provide an integrated, world-class, multimodal transit system with reliable, trustworthy, and environmentally conscious services in line with the pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030. Qatar's first batch of eco-friendly electric buses arrived on 29 June 2021.
Electric buses will be used for key services during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ to become the first championship that uses electric mass transit buses, making it the first eco-friendly, carbon-neutral event.
