Qatar’s football World Cup bid file
H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani officially submitting Qatar’s football World Cup bid file to FIFA President Sepp Blatter at FIFA headquarters in Zurich yesterday. Sheikh Mohammed is chief of a 24-member committee, formed to oversee Qatar’s preparation to win the rights to host the game’s showpiece event. President of Qatar Football Association, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani is also seen. Qatar is aiming to win the rights to host either the 2018 edition or the one to be held in 2022.

Wedding exhibition set to be a big draw
Around 60 to 65 percent of Qatari businessmen will participate in Doha’s International Wedding Exhibition and Fashion Show (IWED) 2009. The organisers of the exhibition also announced they are expecting around 150 wedding companies to take part and about 18,000 guests to attend the event, which will take place at the Doha Exhibition Centre from tomorrow until March 21.
