Around 60 to 65 percent of Qatari businessmen will participate in Doha’s International Wedding Exhibition and Fashion Show (IWED) 2009. The organisers of the exhibition also announced they are expecting around 150 wedding companies to take part and about 18,000 guests to attend the event, which will take place at the Doha Exhibition Centre from tomorrow until March 21. “Around 75 to 80 companies have already confirmed their participation… These are big companies related to weddings — wedding planners, bridal fashion boutiques and tailoring, wedding venues and others,” said Georges Saliba, Projects Department manager of Qatar Expo, the organiser of the event. IWED is a grand celebration of fashion and style revolving around weddings and anything to do with weddings, from the latest designs of wedding gowns, beauty and catering to florists, photographers and wedding venues etc. The event will feature three daily fashion shows by European, Lebanese and Qatari wedding fashion designers, daily hair, beauty and zaffeh shows, and will give the guests a chance to win QR50,000 everyday in a free prize draw. Around 150 exhibitors are expected to participate in IWED — a 25-percent increase from last year’s participating companies — Karim Zarka, acting chief executive officer of Qatar Expo, said in an earlier interview. “A number of companies during the event will be giving gifts to customers, like vouchers. Moutahajiba will be giving free abayas,” said Saliba. Doha Bank, Saliba said, will be offering special packages for weddings and gifts during the exhibition. Doha Bank offers a variety of financial benefits and discounts at various shops for bridal purposes. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local%5FNews&subsection=Qatar+News&month=March2009&file=Local_News2009031751130.xml
