Over 800 clients of Qtel along Al Nasr and Salwa Roads experienced sudden disruption in voice and data services yesterday when contractors working on a road in the Al Waab area accidentally cut the cables. The breach was detected yesterday afternoon and Qtel’s emergency response team was immediately dispatched to the area, successfully managing to repair the breached cables within hours. Service was gradually restored in the afternoon and it returned to normal for all clients by evening. “Qtel’s emergency response team showed excellent response and swift restoration of communication services to our customers,” said Adel Al Mutawa, Executive Director of Group Communications, Qtel, adding Qtel welcomes all contractors working in Qatar to liaise with Qtel’s engineers to avoid such problems. This is not the first time where Road Construction and Maintenance works cause a breach in the communications process, as Qtel’s Emergency Response Team has shown excellent interaction with a number of similar situations. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=March2009&file=Local_News2009031751536.xml
