New Doha International Airport: Thales largely involved in the security of the airport
In June 2009 Thales was awarded a €40 million change order for an extension to its existing contract at the New Doha International Airport (NDIA). For this extension, the consortium ARINC-Thales will jointly continue to provide secured systems at one of the world’s most ambitious airport projects in the Gulf region planned to raise to 50 million passengers per annum for its final phase. Thales is responsible for the complete design and delivery of the integrated security and safety systems, providing the NDIA with the most efficient and trusted solutions implemented for critical areas such as modern airports. Thales will provide the following systems: closed-circuit television, IP TV, access control, airport wide IT communication system, airport wide structured cabling system, telephony transport system-SDH, IT network management system and fire detection and building management systems integration. In the Middle East, Thales is also subcontractor for the implementation of the security and communication solutions for the expansion of Dubai International Airport Concourse 3, after the successful opening of Terminal 3 Concourse 2.
