A senior United Arab Emirates (UAE) royal is visiting Qatar today to meet with His Highness (H.H.) The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. This will be the first time since the blockade against Qatar in 2017, that there is high-level engagement between the ruling families of Qatar and the UAE, according to Bloomberg.

UAE's national security adviser Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan led the delegation to Qatar. At the beginning of the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan conveyed the greetings of H.H. the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and HH the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to H.H. the Amir, wishing His Highness good health and happiness and the Qatari people further progress and prosperity.

H.H. the Amir entrusted HH Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan to convey his greetings to HH the President of the United Arab Emirates, H.H. the Vice President, H.H. the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and his wishes of good health for them and for the people of the UAE further prosperity and advancement.

The meeting dealt with reviewing bilateral relations and the means to enhance them in different fields, in addition to discussing a number of issues of joint interest. (QNA)

H.E. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt Sameh Shoukry, received a copy of the credentials of H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Arab Republic of Egypt Salem Mubarak Al Shafi. (MOFA Qatar)

H.E. Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs wished H.E. the Ambassador success in his work assignments and further development and growth in the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Secretary-General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs meets Egyptian Charge D'Affaires

H.E. Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmad bin Hassan Al-Hamadi met with Charge D'Affaires at the embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the State of Qatar Ahmed Samir Helmy Marzouk, on the occasion of the end of his tenure, based on news on the MOFA Qatar website.

H.E. the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanked the Charge D'Affairs for his efforts in supporting and strengthening bilateral relations and wished him success in his new missions.

Qatar participates in meeting of GCC Committee of Undersecretaries of Foreign Ministries, Senior Consular Affairs Officials

Qatar participated in the second meeting of GCC Committee of Undersecretaries of Foreign Ministries and Senior Consular Affairs Officials, which was held via videoconference technology, with the participation of the legislative and legal sectors in the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the member states, as reported by MOFA Qatar.

The delegation of Qatar was headed by H.E. Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmad bin Hassan Al-Hamadi.

Egyptian press criticizes Al Jazeera's coverage of demonstrations in Doha

Though Cairo has remained quiet when demonstrations broke out in Qatar on 10 August in rejection of a law passed by the Shura Council elections to be held in October 2021 regarding criteria that needs to be met by candidates, the pro-government section of the Egyptian press did not. They criticised Doha's handling of the situation and said Al Jazeera did not do enough to cover the situation.
