Startup of the Week: It's hip, trendy and full of life. It’s FAME FM Qatar!

Every week, ILoveQatar.net (ILQ) features a Qatari startup in our ‘Startup of the Week' segment. Qatar has some of the most creative, unique, and impactful startups in the region, and we cover them all across a variety of industries in Doha—from fashion and beauty to food and dining, health, education, technology, and more!

This week, we're featuring FAME FM Qatar - a new entertainment radio station in the country that mainly plays Arabic music. FAME FM Qatar started streaming online through their website in August 2020, highlighting Top 40 Arabic songs and also playing some English, French, Spanish, and Turkish Top 40. Most of the Arabic music is Levantine with some from Iraq, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and the GCC.

FAME FM Qatar, a sister company of FAME FM Lebanon, takes great pride in the 'variety mix' music it plays. Let's get to know a little bit more about this startup and let's start tuning in to their playlist!

ILQ: How did the idea for Fame FM come about?

FAME FM Qatar: The idea arose from the lack of radio stations in Qatar that cater to Arab expatriates. Most of the Arabic radio stations are playing GCC music and are not focusing on the Top 40 concept. With FAME FM Qatar, Arab expatriates are now getting a great dose of the latest Arabic hits.

ILQ: Why did you choose the name 'FAME'?

FAME FM Qatar: Fame is the state of being known or talked about by many people, especially about their notable achievements. We aspire to become more popular by gaining more listeners and hopefully achieve great things too.

ILQ: Who is the founder of FAME FM Qatar?
