Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has announced that following their designation as COVID-19 facilities, Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital and The Cuban Hospital have both returned to normal operations and will provide their full range of healthcare services to patients.

HMC has also announced that from Sunday 6 March, it will resume delivery of in-person outpatient appointments at full capacity, following a reduction in face-to-face capacity throughout the recent COVID-19 wave in order to protect patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.

The return to normal service delivery comes following the significant decline in COVID-19 cases in Qatar in recent weeks after the Omicron wave of the virus. At the height of the Omicron wave, more than 700 patients with COVID-19 were admitted to HMC facilities, but the recent fall in cases has seen this number reduce substantially, with around only 50 patients currently admitted to hospitals.

HMC’s Communicable Disease Center and the Field Hospital located on the Hazm Mebaireek campus continue to provide advanced care for patients with COVID-19 requiring hospital admission.

Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital and The Cuban Hospital have both played important roles throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in treating patients with moderate and severe COVID-19 symptoms who require hospitalization.

The dedication and expertise of the healthcare teams at these facilities have been central to achieving HMC’s commitment to providing high-quality specialist care to all COVID-19 patients, without delay, throughout the pandemic and has been an important factor in Qatar having one of the lowest COVID-19 mortality rates in the world.
