Discover Qatar has announced further updates on its website and has stated that QID holders wanting to return between 1 August and 15 September should NOT book a hotel quarantine package if returning from a country that's not on the low-risk countries or not eligible for home quarantine unless they have received approval to travel through the Qatar Portal.
Please note that applications for a re-entry permit will not open until 1 August.
Once re-entry is approved, you will receive a permit and can then book your self-funded quarantine hotel package, if travelling from a country not on the low-risk list or if you are not eligible for home quarantine. QID holders returning to Qatar from one of the countries on the low risk will be required to self isolate at home for a period of 7 days.
If you plan to travel from a low-risk country, you need to have been in that country for at least 72 hours before you will be allowed to travel to Qatar and home quarantine. If you have not been in that country for 72 hours you will be considered to have travelled from a non-low risk country and will be required to enter self-funded quarantine for 7 days, followed by 7 days self-isolation at home.
QID holders will not be able to board a flight to Qatar without being able to prove authorisation to travel to Qatar, and by also providing confirmation of a 7-day government-approved quarantine package reservation, if not travelling from a country on the low-risk list.
Exceptions, which are instead required to undertake 7 days mandatory home self-isolation, instead of self-funded 7 days quarantine are:
• Foreign Diplomats, with approval to enter Qatar, are exempt from the self-funded quarantine requirements.
• Holders of ID cards issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affair are exempt from the self-funded quarantine requirements.
• Travelers returning from one of the low-risk countries listed on the MOPH website.
After the 7-day home self-isolation has elapsed, the traveller must go to one of the dedicated health centres to get another Coronavirus test. If the result is positive, the traveller will be transferred to isolation, and if it is negative, the quarantine period ends at the end of that week and the traveller’s status on the Ehteraz application will change to green.
You can choose between different star rated hotels available, depending upon your preferred hotel category and budget.
At the moment, the following six hotels have been selected for quarantine stay after 1 August (we will update you if and when more hotels are added to the list):
