Quarantine

UPDATE: 1 November 2020

Discover Qatar announced on October 13 that the quarantine requirements have now been extended to 31 December 2020 arrivals.

You can find more info and book here: https://www.qatarairwaysholidays.com/qa-en/offers/welcome-home-packages/

"Please do not book a “Welcome Home Package” until you have read the FAQ’s, you know what type of quarantine you will be required to complete, and you have the approval to travel to Qatar," Discover Qatar stressed on its website

UPDATE: 23 July 2020 10:07 am

Discover Qatar has announced further updates to its website with regards to hotel quarantine, home quarantine, low-risk countries and return permits to Qatar:

QID holders returning from 1 August – 15 September

QID holders will need to obtain approval to enter Qatar by applying through the Qatar Portal. Applications for a re-entry permit do not open until 1 August.

Once re-entry is approved, you will receive a permit and can then book your self-funded quarantine hotel package, if travelling from a country not on the low-risk list or if you are not eligible for home quarantine. QID holders returning to Qatar from one of the countries on the low risk will be required to self isolate at home for a period of 7 days.

If you plan to travel from a low-risk country, you need to have been in that country for at least 72 hours before you will be allowed to travel to Qatar and home quarantine. If you have not been in that country for 72 hours you will be considered to have travelled from a non-low risk country and will be required to enter self-funded quarantine for 7 days, followed by 7 days self-isolation at home.

QID holders will not be able to board a flight to Qatar without being able to prove authorisation to travel to Qatar, and by also providing confirmation of a 7-day government-approved quarantine package reservation, if not travelling from a country on the low-risk list.

QID holders are advised not to book a quarantine package until approval to return to Qatar has been confirmed.

Exceptions, which are instead required to undertake 7 days mandatory home self-isolation, instead of self-funded 7 days quarantine are:
• Foreign Diplomats, with approval to enter Qatar, are exempt from the self-funded quarantine requirements.
• Holders of ID cards issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affair are exempt from the self-funded quarantine requirements.
• Travelers returning from one of the low-risk countries listed on the MOPH website.

After the 7-day home self-isolation has elapsed, the traveller must go to one of the dedicated health centres to get another Coronavirus test. If the result is positive, the traveller will be transferred to isolation, and if it is negative, the quarantine period ends at the end of that week and the traveller’s status on the Ehteraz application will change to green.
