Labor Ministry affirms continuing commitment to promoting and protecting workers' rights

The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs called on the owners of companies and workers to adhere to observe all preventive measures and precautionary measures specified by the competent authorities in the state, to ensure the safety of workers during their entry and exit with random thermal inspection, within the gradual opening of the Industrial Area, which started with streets 1 and 2 and Al Wakalat Street since last April 22.

The Ministry stressed the need to adhere to the regulation of the process of exit and entry of individuals with precautionary measures to prevent Coronavirus and has released a guideline ‘Organising Exit and Entry Procedures’ for Industrial Area on its website, prepared by the Permanent Committee for Industrial Area. These procedures will be effective starting from 5-5-2020
until the issuance of other procedures.

The Ministry will issue permits for companies wishing to relocate their workers to and from the industrial zone and will conduct inspection campaigns on workplace accommodation to ensure companies adhere to standards and specifications for decent housing for workers and search campaigns on worksites in the industrial area to ensure that companies adhere to occupational safety and health requirements at various work sites.

Facilities will also be audited to ensure that they comply with the requirements of all agencies with issuing permits to workers and take the necessary pledges, as companies are allowed to exit labor and return to the workplace provided there is an existing project with the need to adhere to preventive and precautionary measures to limit the spread of the epidemic in the workplace and housing while signing a pledge not to Workers mix with others outside the industrial zone while working on various projects.
The Ministry stresses the need for companies to continue to educate workers about the need to leave the safe distance (2 meters) while taking other preventive measures in housing and workplaces.

The ministry calls on the owners of companies and workers to download the Ehteraz application. Companies wishing to remove workers from the industrial zone must ensure that the program is loaded on the phones of the workers accompanying the examination, and in the absence of a feature to download the program to the worker’s phone or the lack of a phone, he will not be allowed to leave.
