Germany's Ilkay Gudogan scored a penalty for his team in the 33rd minute of the game. This was followed by Japan's Ritsu Doan levelling the score for his team by scoring a goal.

In the 83rd minute, Japan's Takuma Asano scored a goal bringing the score to 2-1, in favour of Japan.

Japan won the match at full time.
