Indian Embassy in Doha releases travel advisory on carrying medication to Qatar

All travellers to Qatar are advised to exercise due caution in carrying medicines. In this context, the following is advised:

  1. It is prohibited to carry medicines that contain narcotics or psychotropic substances while arriving in the State of Qatar. These include medicines like - Lyrica, Tramadol, Alprazolam (Xanax), Diazepam (Valium), Zolam, Clonazepam, Zolpidem, Codeine, Methadone, Pregabalin.   2. Carrying prohibited medicines to Qatar can lead to arrest and a jail sentence.
  3. Do not carry medicines for friends and family.
  4. Medicines that are not banned and meant for personal use should have a proper prescription only for a period of 30 days from a recognized doctor and a reputed Hospital.
