Sheikh Abdullah bin Faleh bin Mohammed Al-Thani has been named as the president of the first Qatari federation for electronic games to fall under the umbrella of the Qatar Olympic Committee. The aim of this federation is to increase interest in electronic games and activate its local activities and international participation, according to Al Arab.
He also added that the Federation will hold its first meeting after the conclusion of the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 to set the regulations and work plan in coordination with the Sports Affairs Department of the Olympic Committee.
eSports (short for Electronic Sports) is a multiplayer video game played by professional players in an organised environment. Since the dawn of the internet, multiplayer gaming within an organised context for prizes has been a big thing. In a nutshell, competitors play video games, while being watched by a live audience. Millions more watch the games online.
The electronic gaming industry has come a long way since its inception, and currently, it’s one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. Qatar is expanding its journey into the exciting eSports entertainment field.
