Qatar wins gold medals in GCC open water swimming championship

The Qatar Swimming Team have won the first place of the overall ranking for the stage of 13-14 years within the 17th GCC Open Water Swimming Championship which kicked off in Kuwait yesterday and continues until Sunday. The team claimed the titles of teams and singles in a race of 3 kilometers for this stage.

Qatari trio Karim Salah, Omar Ashraf and Abdullah Al Khalidi won the first place of the team competition through the. Karim Salah won the gold medal for the singles competition with a time of 55:00:7 minutes, while Omar Ashraf won the silver medal for the same race with a time of 55:29:8 minutes.

Qatar swimmer Mohamed Mahmoud received the gold medal for the 5-km race for the 15-17 years with a time of 1:29:34:9 hours. Abdulrahman Mohammed won the bronze medal for a 5km race for the public stage with a time of 1:29:10:4 hours.

The Qatari delegation is headed by Assistant Secretary of Qatar Swimming Association Ahmad Al Nama and 8 swimmers are taking part in the tournament. (QNA)
