Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim claimed bronze in the high jump competition at the World Athletics Championships - Budapest 2023 on 22 August 2023.

This victory takes Barshim's tally of coloured medals in the world championships to seven - three gold, one silver and one bronze at senior competitions, one gold indoors and one gold at youth competitions.
The Qatari star recorded the second-highest jump of all-time (2.43m) in Brussels 2014, just two centimeters shy of Cuba's Javier Sotomayor in 1993.
