The Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced on 6 December 2023 that Coach Marquez Lopez has been appointed as the Qatar national football team's head coach.

Coach Marquez Lopez will be looking over the Qatar national team throughout the AFC Asian Cup 2023™ , which will be taking place in Qatar from 12 January - 10 February 2024.
The Al Wakrah Sports Club was appreciated for facilitating the appointment of Coach Marquez Lopez as the head coach.
The Qatar Football Association also announced that the contract with Coach Carlos Queiroz was mutually terminated, and his supervision of the national team for the served period was appreciated.
