The competition will witness 75 medal events across six aquatic sports, which include swimming, diving, water polo, artistic swimming, open-water swimming and high diving. Approximately 2,500 athletes from around 200 countries will be competing.
Qatar has previously hosted many water and pool tournaments, the last being The World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m) in 2014, along with nine of the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup meets, four World Aquatics Open Water Swimming World Cups and a Diving World Series event in 2009.
This will be the first time the World Aquatics Championships – Doha 2024 will be taking place in Qatar and the Middle East.
This edition of the championship will be the 21st edition of the World Aquatics Championships and will be crucial as it will pave the path for athletes and teams qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and will witness fresh athletes, and legendary aquatic athletes compete.
The championship will open with artistic swimming and diving on 2 February 2024 at the Aspire Dome and the Hamad Aquatics Centre. Diving and artistic swimming will be carried out over nine days and will go directly to the finals without a preliminary round.
Doha Port will be the venue for the Open water swimming competition, which will be taking place from 3 to 8 February 2024 and will start with women's 10km.
The women's and men's Water Polo Tournament will commence on the 4th and 5th of February 2024 at the Aspire Dome, and the Women’s Gold Medal Game will take place on 16 February 2024.
The swimming competition will begin on day 10, which will be 11 February 2024 and will continue till 18 February 2024 and will award six individual events and the Men’s and Women’s 4x100m Medley Relays on the final night of the Championships. This will also be taking place at the Aspire Dome.
The High Divers competition will be on a tight schedule from 12 to 14 February 2024, and Doha Port will be the venue.

Announcing this is an important step in organising our showcase event for our athletes. Alongside the local organisers, we are preparing the stage so that our athletes can perform at their highest levels and inspire the next generation of aquatics athletes.”
