Doha's football heroes, after winning the historic and closely-fought 2019 Asian Cup top prize, is coming back to Doha today (February 2, 2019) at 6:15PM as tweeted by the official Twitter account of the Qatar Football Association (QFA).
"We're happy to welcome back our football champs in the Doha Corniche on Saturday from 6:15 pm. We'll see you there!"
Two stunning goals from Almoez Ali and Abdulaziz Hatem in the first 30 minutes of the finals of Asian Cup 2019 in Abu Dhabi and a third by Akram Afif in the second half made Qatar win the top prize in a well-attended match yesterday evening (Doha time).
Despite the hostile environment that Team Qatar had to endure in order to keep playing, they still emerged the winners with a score of 3-1 against Japan. Euphoria flowed through the venues of the screening and later spilled into the surrounding areas and streets as Qatar scripted history in the games.
Celebrations were all over in the Qatar capital and beyond with many football fanatics thronging venues with large national flags, drums, and other music instruments while chanting, singing and dancing.
In another tweet by the QFA, they revealed that this years' Asian Cup winning country is also the first team in the history of the continental championship to triumph 7 consecutive games and crowned the champions.
A special appearance by the Qatari flag and an air show kicked off the pre-scheduled homecoming of Qatar's mighty national football team. Make sure to arrive at the venue a little earlier in order to secure a good spot—we can't stress this enough!
