Al Ahli and Al Gharafa played a Round of 16 match of the Amir Cup 2024 on 8 May 2024 to determine which team would advance to the quarterfinals. The match kicked off at 5:15 pm at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.
Al Ahli started the match strong, scoring back-to-back goals from Naim Sliti and Yazan Al-Nuaimat in the 15th and 21st minutes to take an early lead of 2-0.
Al Gharafa responded with a goal from Fabricio Díaz in the 29th minute, taking the score to 2-1.
Determined to keep the lead, Al Ahli's Yazan Al-Nuaimat scored his second goal in the 39th minute, taking the score to 3-1 by half-time.
In the second half, Al Gharafa's Farid Boulaya scored a goal in the 68th minute to lessen the gap to 3-2.
In the 83rd minute, Ferjani Sassi from Al Gharafa makes a goal, equalizing the score to 3-3 by the end of the second half, taking it to extra time.
Al Gharafa's Ahmed Alaa scored a goal in the 105+1 minute of extra time, extending the team's lead to 3-4 and securing the win.
Al Gharafa takes the fifth spot in the Amir Cup 2024 quarterfinals and will face Umm Salal.
