Nasser Al Attiyah and co-driver Mathieu Baumel powered their Dakar-winning Toyota GR DKR Hilux to victory on Stage 2 of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, round 2 of the FIAs World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC).
Al Attiyah, with his French navigator recorded a time of 4:25:11 hours in the second stage, which was held on 6th March, in (ADNOC Distribution Stage) and reached 318 km beat the French Sebastien Loeb by 3:50 minutes, and the Saudi driver Yazeed Al Rajhi came third, 10:55 minutes ahead of Al Attiyah.
Al Attiyah said in a statement on Monday, 7th of March that he and his French navigator will try to win in each stage to get as many points as they did in the second stage, aiming for more stage victories.
Next up is Stage 3, which consists of a timed section of 255 km. The stage will start next to the bivouac at Qasr al Sarab, and finish 35km away from the bivouac, the terrain is expected to consist of sandy tracks and dunes, in equal measure.
The Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge consists of five tough stages, with the race ending on Thursday, March 10.
