The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) warns against consuming fresh and frozen shrimp from India, as some imported quantities are microbially contaminated, based on the results of the analysis in the food laboratories of the Ministry.
MOPH, in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, is working to ensure that all quantities of Indian shrimp offered are withdrawn from the market.
The Ministry calls upon consumers, in the event of purchasing fresh and frozen Indian shrimp during the last three days, not to consume it and return it to the outlets from which it was purchased.
If it has been consumed and the symptoms of gastrointestinal infection are felt, the consumer should visit the nearest health centre.
