Ministry warns quaker oat products salmonella contamination

The Ministry of Public Health has issued a warning to the public against the consumption of oat products from the USA brand Quaker with expiration dates 9 January 2024, 12 March 2024, 3 June 2024, 2 August 2024, 1 September 2024, or 1 October 2024.

As per the Minsitry, the warning is based on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) statement regarding Quaker recalling these products from the market due to salmonella contamination.

Salmonella is a pathogenic bacteria that causes food poisoning, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and nausea.

The Ministry of Public Health, in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has issued a circular to all suppliers and consumer associations to stop marketing the products and withdraw them immediately from the market. Inspectors have also been tasked to verify that shops are free of such suspicious products.
