Seven storey building mansoura collapse

The Ministry of Interior has announced that search and rescue teams were able to pull out two women alive from the site and have been shifted to the hospital to receive medical treatment.

They have also reported that preliminary investigations indicate that maintenance work was ongoing in the building at the time of the collapse.

The Ministry has added that relevant authorities have taken measures to ensure that the parties responsible for the maintenance work had the necessary permits and to determine whether their actions had any impact on the building's collapse.

The Philippine Embassy in Qatar has also announced that 30 Filipinos affected by the incident are being assisted and cared for, and there have been no reported casualties.

They confirm that most are billeted in temporary accommodation courtesy of the MWO-OWWA. The Philippine Embassy in Qatar is also coordinating with the Ministry of Interior who has already offered assistance.

According to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has begun working to uncover the causes of the collapse of the said residential building in Bin Durham area of Central Doha.

Director of Public Relations Department in MoI Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah told QNA that the investigation authorities had begun procedures to uncover the causes of the building's collapse, which occurred at around 8:30 am in the Bin Dirham area in central Doha, pointing to the continuation of search and rescue operations at the site. Brigadier Al Muftah described that the conditions of the injured are mild to medium, pointing out that they are receiving the necessary treatment.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Interior announced that the civil defence and other relevant authorities rescued seven persons after a four-storied building in the Bin Durham area of Central Doha collapsed. In contrast, one person who was inside the building died.

In a Qatar TV interview, Brigadier General Abdullah Al-Muftah, Director of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of the Interior, said that 12 families of the affected were evacuated and housed in a hotel. They are being taken care of and being provided with psychological care.

As per a report on The Peninsula, Brigadier General Al Muftah said that at exactly 8:33 am they received a report about the collapse of a building on Al Khudri Street in Bin Durham area of Al Mansoura. He also mentioned that ambulance, traffic, Al Fazaa, and rescue teams rushed to the incident site.

The specialized teams managed to rescue 7 people, and the investigation teams are completing their investigations, as per Brigadier General Al Muftah.

The Peninsula reported that a building located in the residential area of Mansoura collapsed on the morning of 22 March 2023.

According to the report, the building is located behind the LuLu Express on B-Ring Road and the Civil Defense, ambulances, and police were in the area to control the situation.

A resident in the area confirmed with The Peninsula that part of the building collapsed on the neighboring three-storey building and that the site has been cordoned off, prohibiting entrance.

Another resident shared with The Peninsula that the building collapsed around 8:18 am and rescue work continues. They also shared that expat families resided in the building.

The Ministry of Interior announced that competent authorities were able to save the lives of 7 people, while 1 person who was in the building, unfortunately, passed away.

The ILQ Team extends its condolences to those affected.

Efforts are still underway to ensure that no one is trapped inside the building. Authorities are continuing their efforts to confirm the safety of those residing in the adjacent areas.
