QRCS building in Gaza City severely damaged by Israeli forces (QRCS)

The Qatari Red Crescent (QRCS) building was severely damaged earlier this afternoon when a commercial building was shelled by Israeli forces in Gaza city, according to a status on the Palestine Red Crescent Society Twitter Page:

In a statement to Al-Sharq, QRCS Director of Communication and Public Relations Mohammed Rashid Al-Marri said that the QRCS headquarter was completely destroyed, but thank God, the medical and relief teams are fine, pointing to the continuation of its operations in the sector.

The Qatar Red Crescent stated - on its official account on the Twitter site - that its headquarter in the Gaza Strip was bombed by the Israeli occupation forces on Monday at 6 pm Jerusalem time, and the bombing resulted in the death of two Palestinians and wounded 10 Palestinians

The Qatar Red Crescent had called for an investigation into war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Israeli occupation, and has now become the target of a new war crime by the occupation itself, stated Al-Sharq.

Dr. Fawzi Ouseddik, head of international relations at the QRCS, called for holding Israel criminally responsible for the crimes it commits against the Palestinians, stressing that what is happening amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity.

He stressed that what is happening in the Israeli violations against the Palestinians calls for mobilizing civil society to acknowledge criminal and civil responsibility, because the crimes committed amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity, adding: It also calls for the necessity of urging international protection for the Palestinian people and their Palestinian land

In accordance with international law and international humanitarian law, the headquarters of relief societies that provide support to civilians in times of war are protected from direct military targeting.
