Qatar has won the rights in a bid against Saudi Arabia to host the Asian Games in 2030. The selection was made at the 39th OCA General Assembly in Muscat, Oman just now after votes were collected from all 45 National Olympic Committees.

The General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia unanimously agreed that the winner of the voting would host the Asian Games 2030 and the runner up would host the to host the Asian Games. This means that while Qatar will host the 2030 edition, Saudi Arabia will host the Asian Games in 2034.

This will be the second time Qatar will be hosting the Asian Games. It hosted a very successful event in December 2006.
